dust jacket (first sketch)
mandatory explanatory
date: 18 september 2014

sketch number: 1

content: publication title ('i'm new here')

look & feel of the design: minimal, abstract, dynamic, bright

size: square (fits the square photos i'll be showing inside the publication), not too big (about 12 x 12 cm)

typography: bold, clean, minimal, upper case, scattered vs. aligned

material: blank paper (450g), firm feel

print technique: block print for the leaves, lasercut for cutting out the letters on the back

folding method: four vertical folds

concept: the leaves represent the growth i've experienced at my previous graphic design school. for the colors i chose the ones from the school's logo. from everything i've learned and experienced so far, i chose certain things that i can take with me to the next experience, which is the current school i'm attending. the cut out letters from the back represent everything i took with me to my next school. the blank background on the front stands for the new environment that i've been placed into. the letters on the front are of course the ones i cut out from the back, which means that my previous experiences are still there, it's just a new background.
